How are you involved in education?
I am a Secondary Special Education Instructional Coordinator in Frederick County Public Schools in Maryland. I taught special education K- 5 for 14 years, and was also a teacher specialist for two years. I support students, teachers, parents, and administrators as a member of school and county IEP teams. I am also involved in developing and implementing professional learning opportunities for teachers and staff at the school and systemic level.
Have you ever attended an unconference?
No! I have followed several edcamps on Twitter but this will be the first I have attended, and I am so excited!
How do you hope Edcamp Baltimore will allow you to be more?
I am looking forward to being an active participant in the unconference style of edcamp, interacting with fellow participants and learning from each other. I want to "be more" of a learner and a leader throughout the day, by learning from others and sharing what I know when I find out what others would like to learn form me!
What are your hopes and goals to allow those you teach to be more?
I am so passionate about sharing my ideas with others. I know that my kernels of ideas can grow into more when I share them with others, just as I have grown tremendously through my PLN on Twitter. Some of the topics I think that I could share with others include ideas about UDL (Universal Design for Learning), CoTeaching, and Effective Inclusive Practices.
What are some session topics you’d like to proposed or see proposed at Edcamp Baltimore?
In addition to topics of UDL and CoTeaching, I'd love to propose the idea of Flipped PD. While it is something I'm exploring, I definitely want to be more! I also want to learn more about instructional coaching. I would propose that the use of educational technology be shared, either through iPad apps or google apps.
