How are you involved in education?
I have been studying or teaching American History for more than 25 years. This is my 11th year at Bullis School in Potomac, MD. I teach AP United States History, Thematic US History, and new this year, a seminar on "Poverty and Equity." I co-chair our Diversity and Equity Committee and also head up Community Service.
Have you ever attended an unconference?
Yes, once. EdCampSocial Studies in Philadelphia last Spring.
How do you hope Edcamp Baltimore will allow you to be more?
I hope to be more connected with area teachers. I hope to pick up some new technology tools for my classroom. I hope to grow and gain exposure to new classroom methods.
What are your hopes and goals to allow those you teach to be more?
I want my students to be more confident, articulate, and connected with the world. I want them to create for an authentic audience.
If you were to lead a session at Edcamp Baltimore, what might you present?
Teaching history through essential questions: a thematic approach.
Integrating National History Day into the classroom.
Social Media in the classroom.
Sara is coming to Edcamp Baltimore. Are you? If so, introduce yourself by filling out this form.
