How are you involved in education?
I was an elementary classroom teacher for eleven years before taking the position of Lower School Technology Coordinator at Fredericksburg Academy. I am currently a webinar only participant in PLP and preparing to begin grad school for my masters in Learning Technologies. Over the past year, I have been building my PLN through Twitter and blogging.
Have you ever attended an unconference?
I just attended Edcamp IS-VA! It was so thought provoking and rewarding, that I decided to attend Edcamp Baltimore!
How do you hope Edcamp Baltimore will allow you to be more?
I hope Edcamp Baltimore will allow me to connect with more educators and continue my learning process. These connections are so important to allowing me to bring my best to my students and colleagues.
What are your hopes and goals to allow those you teach to be more?
My hopes and goals for the students, and teachers I work with is that they will each have those moments of clarity and relevance. For my students, it comes from finding ways to make true connections between their learning and the world outside our school. For my colleagues, it comes from making technology less intimidating and guiding them to discover its relevance, and importance, in their classrooms.
If you were to lead a session at Edcamp Baltimore, what might you present?
I might lead a discussion on the use of iPads in the classroom. We are in the middle of deploying two carts of the device to our fifth graders. By the time Edcamp Baltimore occurs, we will have been using them for almost a month.
Kim is coming to Edcamp Baltimore. Are you? If so, introduce yourself by filling out this form.
