Meet the Edcamp Baltimore 2016 Organizing Committee
Emmanuel Andre (@MrEAndre)

Emmanuel “Manny” Andre is a STAT teacher for Baltimore County Public Schools. A graduate of the University at Buffalo, he taught English for 8 years at Patapsco High School before moving to Owings Mills High to work on Professional Development. Currently, he is working on his master’s degree in administration at Goucher College and plans to go into administration.
Emmanuel has implemented university-style professional development, written responsive PD sessions and has worked with various teachers on specific initiatives. He is also the AVID coordinator at Owings Mills High School and believes strongly in its mission. He believes that well-informed teachers lead to well-prepared students.
Emmanuel has a strong commitment to public education and professional development. He enjoys talking edtech and is often looking for specific reasons to bring it up in conversation. He is a compulsive Twitter chat participant, and he talks about starting a blog, but we will see about that.

Heidi Hutchison (@HeidiHutchison)

Heidi Hutchison is a passionate, globally connected educator. Although a South Jersey native, Heidi moved to Baltimore in 1998 after earning a BSEd from the University of Delaware. She began her teaching career in Baltimore City, transitioned to Baltimore County and has been teaching at Friends School of Baltimore for the last ten years. Heidi currently teaches 5th grade and has spent the last year earning a Masters of Education in School Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.
Heidi loves to collaborate with students and teachers across the globe, especially when it’s about project based learning experiences. She has presented on various PBL units like the #Malala Project, The One and Only Ivan, A Global PBL and Revolutions 101 at Global EdCon, Edscape 2014, Bucks Institute of Education Project Spotlight 2014 and ISTE 2015. She was awarded the Global Classroom Lead Teacher Award in 2013 and 2014. Heidi is a true believer in self-directed learning. She has passed this love onto her students by facilitating Kid EdCamp 2014 and 2015. Heidi is looking forward to having some free time this year to spend more time with her husband, two children, friends and family!

Shannon Montague (@montysays)

An EdCamp Baltimore co-founder and a 2005 graduate of the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in English, Shannon's interest in education began at an early age, and she started her career teaching middle school English in independent schools in the Washington, DC metro area. After teaching in the Washington, DC metro area for six years and earning a master's degree from Columbia University's Klingenstein Center for Independent School Leadership, Shannon moved to Baltimore to work as a Middle School Technology Integrator at the Bryn Mawr School, and is currently Bryn Mawr's Middle School Dean of Students and Drama Coordinator.
Shannon has a strong interest in faculty professional development. She enjoys working with independent school educators and leaders in shaping their teaching and personal learning, but nothing compares to the fun she has in her classroom. Shannon received David S. Stone Foundation Award for Faculty Excellence at the Bullis School and has presented on unconference-style professional development and technology at a number of conferences, including the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS) annual conference, the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) annual conference, and the AIMS Technology Retreat. Shannon was named an NAIS Teacher of the Future for the 2013-14 school year. A strong believer in the powerful professional development that edcamps can provide, Shannon has attended numerous edcamps along the East Coast and is a member of the Edcamp Foundation Board. Additionally, Shannon is the board secretary for the Lille May Carroll Jackson Charter School, and is on the AIMS Technology Committee, serving as the 2015 Retreat Co-Chair.
Shannon is also a strong advocate of arts in education, as she is a performer and director herself in community theater productions in the mid-Atlantic.

Jenna Shaw (@teachbaltshaw)

Jenna Shaw is passionate about changing the educational landscape through innovation, creation, and technology integration. She is interested in all aspects of learning and unlearning. Jenna has a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from University of Maryland- College Park and a Master’s of Art in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University. Jenna grew up in the Baltimore area and currently teaches middle school language arts at Patterson Park Public Charter School. At PPPCS, Jenna is the middle school Lead, the Teacher-at-Large on the Board of Directors, has coached the National Academic League, and oversaw the student Bird's Eye View elective. Most recently she became the co-chair of the Committee for Innovative Teaching and leads the committee for Hands-On, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Instruction. Jenna was also a 2012 EdTech fellow with the Digital Harbor Foundation.
Jenna particularly enjoys working with other teachers, and has developed a number of professional development opportunities that help connect her staff and teachers around Baltimore City. She has also worked with An Estuary to help develop the profession of teaching with teachers from around the country. Before teaching, Jenna spent time volunteering in the Maryland prison system and studying anthropology in South Africa. In her free time, Jenna enjoys reading, traveling, blogging, and dancing.

Chris Shriver (@ccshriver)

Chris, one of the co-founders of Edcamp Baltimore, is a connected educator, dedicated to rethinking how we view education and what it means to be educated. She strives to guide her students to become curious, joyful, resilient learners. She holds a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia and an M.A. in English from Virginia Commonwealth University. Currently she is the lower school technology coordinator at Garrison Forest School, an all girls’ independent school in Owings Mills, MD.
She has presented locally at conferences such as the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS) Tech Retreat, and nationally at conferences such as the TESOL International Convention. Additionally, she presented at the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Annual Conference in February 2013.
Outside of school, Chris enjoys time at home with her husband, three children, and two Jack Russell terriers.

Molly Smith (@historyfriend)

Molly Smith is currently the Upper School History Department Chair at Friends School in Baltimore. Prior to that, she taught at the Bryn Mawr School for Girls. She teaches survey courses in US History and World History as well as electives in Modern Asia, Modern Middle East, and International Immigration and Citizenship. Her bachelor's degree is in International Relations from Tufts University. She also holds a Master's of Arts in history from UMBC.
Molly is passionate about her work and committed to creating a student-centered classroom. She is connected to teachers across the country through Twitter, and she has connected her students with other students through Quadblogging and Skype sessions. She looks to use her own PLN to model for students how to create their own learning networks. As an avid blogger who uses her blog as a means for reflecting on her teaching and testing out new ideas, she encourages her students to blog. Having attended several EdCamps, including EdCamp Baltimore last year, she looks forward to being part of the planning team this year.
At home, Molly has a husband, twin boys and a dog to keep her busy. She is a loyal fan of her local sports teams - the Orioles, the Ravens, and whatever recreation league team her sons are currently playing on. In those rare moments when the house is quiet she grabs a book to read.
