How are you involved in education?

I am the Technology Support Teacher at Elkridge Landing Middle School in Howard County.

Have you ever attended an edcamp or unconference before?

No

How do you hope Edcamp Baltimore will allow you to be more?

I'm hoping to find something new to bring back to my school. I would like to learn more about BYOD, and specific apps to use to elevate the use of technology in the classroom.

What are your hopes and goals to allow those you teach to be more?

Our students are comfortable using technology - but I want to expose them to technology for learning & creating - not just social media & games.

What are some "hot topics" that you hope are explored more at Edcamp Baltimore?

  • BYOD - the good, the bad & the ugly
  • PD - increasing the use of technology in the classrooms

Middle School Mathematics Teacher, Baltimore County Public Schools

How do you hope Edcamp Baltimore will allow you to be more?

There is such a benefit to sharing ideas with colleagues!  The ultimate goal is to maximize student achievement through active engagement at all levels at all times!  I am eager to hear what others are doing to maximize use of classroom space and technology integration for maximum student performance.

What are your hopes and goals to allow those you teach to be more?

My hope is that my students will enjoy the process of learning through taking strong intiative to explore new ideas and concepts on their own and share them with their classmates.  By active engagment and taking responsibility for the learning process, my dream is that more and more students will have fun, take responsibility for their success, and enjoy becoming a life-long learner.  In doing that, the sky is the limit!

What are your hopes and goals to allow those you teach to be more?

I want my students to learn multiple ways of accomplishing things. Traditionally we have taught students single solutions and then they get stuck if that single solution won't work. We need to equip them with multiple ways so that they can problem solve when tackling issues beyond the classroom.
